Data management professionals in Canada's National Capital Region
Marie-Claude will offer an overview of the metadata developments led by the Treasury Board Secretariat (TBS) to support unstructured information resources in the Government of Canada (GC) since 2000. She will share her experience and the challenges met along the way, and will also touch on future metadata developments planned by TBS. A discussion to draw a parallel between metadata for unstructured information resources and structured data will follow.
Marie-Claude Côté is a Senior Policy Analyst in the Information Management Division, CIO Branch, TBS. After obtaining her Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science, she worked in public library and private sector before joining the federal public service. During the last 16 years, she contributed to the development of the information management (IM) domain in the GC, working in various departments and in central agency, both in headquarters and regional offices, within corporate IM services as well as supporting IM in program administration and projects. Marie-Claude also teaches the IM Curriculum at the Canada School of Public Service.
DAMA (Data Management Association) is vendor independent, not-for-profit professional association for Information Management Practitioners. Its primary objective is to, "develop and communicate the knowledge and standards of data management".
