Synopsys:

This presentation will be a practical and in-depth walkthrough on how to build an Enterprise-class Business Intelligence (BI) framework by bringing together two distinct modelling paradigms that might otherwise be at odds with one another (Entity/Relationship vs. Dimensional). This presentation will address the following topics:

  • Top-down Data Warehouse architecture using the Kimball methodology (dimensional)
  • The Enterprise Data Model (EDM) – purpose, uses including how it can be used to plan and deliver conformed dimensions as well as development strategies for building it in conjunction with BI application delivery
  • Data modeling concepts – conceptual logical and dimensional with examples using Sybase PowerDesigner
  • Other data governance considerations – such as Master Data Management)
  • Enterprise BI strategies for the public sector – how to think big, but deliver in small successive increments)

Audience:

  • BI/DW Architects
  • Data architects, data modellers, data stewards, subject matter experts
  • Key decision makers: CIOs, project managers/leads, technical leads and technical advisors
